Speaking Tongues
I have a new job. Actually, I've had this new job since February. Anyway, I've been training in several different areas of this new place, but the most interesting area hasn't been because of the material that's there to learn, but an individual. This individual is a very interesting person.
He never seemed to be the kind of person that would be a born-again Christian (He is). He also...Wait for it! He speaks in tongues!
He showed me an example. I've never actually witnessed this before. I've only heard about it or seen it on television, so it was kind of a surprise. For a minute, I thought the guy was goofing around so I had to keep from laughing, just in case he wasn't kinding around. Turned out it was the right move.
He seems to have gained a lot from finding Christ. He said that his past was full of debauchery and the like. He didn't seem the type to be into SnM, Snuff or Fetishism, but at this point, I'm really not sure about anything about this guy.
He said that Christianity gave him focus and direction. Anyway, can that be what I'm missing? He asked me if I beleived in Christ. I told him I had my own interpretations about the bible. He really didn't seem that interested in knowing my philosophical point-of-views. He was just eagre to share his. To be honest, this isn't the first time someone's mentioned religion to me at a place of employment. While I was a bus driver for a couple of months, one of the people there introduced me to 666.
She had a tattoo of 666 on her wrist. She asked me about my religion and I can't remember what I said. She gave me a CD to listen to and I decided to google what 666 and religion had to do with each other, aside from the obvious symbolism. Anyway, turns out that this Christian group has a leader that thinks of himself as Christ reborn. These Christians beleive that there are two types of people: 1. Saved, 2. Not Saved. That all sin, not just original sin, was washed away when Christ was crucified. So, no matter what a Saved person does, he is one with Christ and will always be Saved. The Not Saved will never he Saved, again, no matter what they do.
It's interesting. Both views are interesting. I try not to judge religion especially when it changes peoples lives. At least, changes them for the better. I guess I'm only harsh when religion tells me that God said that I can't be saved without beleiving a certain way. My thought is basic: How do you know that God said that? Just because it's in a book doesn't make it so.
In both cases above, they seem to have dicent lives. Families, good jobs, focus, direction, etc. So, which is right? Are they both right? Are they both wrong? Am I wrong about my beliefs? Am I right? Do I want to be right? Should I be right?
The only thing I have about differing beliefs is that they seem to lead to violence. That will never change.
